Using Special Collections

  Some of the special collections in the library require prior application depending on the materials and usage.

 

Browsing Materials in the Library

 The Special Collections are divided into three categories: materials that can be used without any procedures, materials that can be used by staff cashiers, and materials that require prior application. For materials that can be used by staff cashiers, please apply at the service counter to cashier the materials. For materials that require prior application for use, please apply in advance for browsing.

Application for Browsing Rare Books:Materials that require prior application

Procedure

  1.  Read the document about “The rules of handling rare books (Mochizuki Collection, Collection of modern education history in Japan, etc.)”(in Japanese) below thoroughly.
  2.  Then, complete the application form below and deliver it to the Service Counter.
  3.  After receiving library’s permission, you can use the material on the specified date and time. 

 

Notice

  • The application form must be delivered 3 business days in advance of your visit.
  • Users with no affiliation to Tokyo Gakugei University may apply via your university or institution's library.
  • The materials which are expected to be damaged or deteriorated during use, will not be allowed to browse.
  • The number of materials limits up to three items at a time in order to preserve the materials.
  • Browsing hours are from 9:30 to 16:30 on weekdays

 

Copying and personal photography

 Prior application is required in the following cases.

  • Requests to make copies or take photographs of rare books or materials for which copying is prohibited.
  • If you wish to use the materials in the library for photography.

Procedure

  1.  Please complete the application form below and deliver it to the Service Counter.

  2.  After receiving library’s permission, you can copy or photograph on the specified date and time.

 

Notice

  • Users with no affiliation to Tokyo Gakugei University may apply via your university or institution's library.
  • Please confirm the copyright and other necessary procedures for photographing and copying materials by yourself before applying for use. The library will not be held responsible for any liability related to photography or copying.
  • Photocopying and photographing permission cannot be granted on the same day of your visit.
  • The library will designate a method of copying and photographing that takes into consideration the preservation of the materials. Photocopying and photography will not be permitted if the materials are likely to deteriorate or be damaged.
  • • The hours for photocopying and photography are from 9:30 to 16:30 on weekdays
